Our church is a part of the International Church of the Nazarene with over 18,000 local congregations and 1.9 million members in over 150 areas around the world. Claremore Church of the Nazarene began in 1936 in a Rock Church located at Patti Page and Florence. In 1950, the church moved to a new location at 6th and Florence, and in 1965, it moved again to our present location at Blue Starr and Dorothy. In our congregation you will find people in all walks of life. Our common bond is the desire to connect to Christ and to others. We have many Sunday School classes, small groups, and various other ministries in our church that you can be a part of. We are also expanding our parking and building a multipurpose facility to meet the needs of our growing congregation.
Who are the Nazarenes?
We are a Christian People.
We join with all true believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ and embracing the historical Trinitarian creeds of the Christian Faith.
We are a Holiness People.
God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness of heart, soul, mind, and strength. We are called unto Holiness.
We
are a Missional People.
Our mission includes worship of God, evangelization of the world, compassion of the needy, and Christian maturity through discipleship and Christian education.
We Believe . . .
- In one Creator God, who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Spirit.
- In the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ.
- The Bible is the inspired and relevant Word of God.
- All people have sinned and need God's grace and forgiveness which is free and available to all through Jesus' death on the cross.
- God draws us to Himself but the decision to respond is ours.
- An individual must repent and trust Christ to receive forgiveness and eternal life.
- As Christians we need to offer our whole lives to God (the biblical word for this is sanctification).
- When we give ourselves to God in this way, His Spirit can fully mold us into Christ-likeness; His perfect love is reflected in our attitudes and action; and God empowers us to live more abundantly.
- The church is the body of Christ carrying on His purposes in the world.
- God can bring healing.
- Jesus Christ is coming again.
